Website maintenance, security and development: updates, backups, monitoring and changes on time
A site is not finished forever once it is launched. It needs updates, backups, monitoring and a response to changes in the company's offer. We maintain, secure and develop sites so that they run without interruption, and changes reach the site when they are needed rather than "when someone finds the time".
What does website maintenance include?
A site nobody maintains works until the first failure or the first attack. Usually the latter.
Maintenance is a set of regular activities that ensure the site works, is secure and up to date. Development means changes arising from the company's needs: new pages, features, campaigns. We run both within one engagement:
- updates of the system, plugins and libraries, tested before deployment,
- backups with regular checks that the site can be restored from them,
- monitoring of availability, speed and attack attempts, with a response within an agreed time,
- security: reviews, patches, oversight by a certified auditor,
- development: changes to content and features at a steady rhythm or on request.
What does a maintenance engagement look like?
- We take over the site. We check its technical condition, security and backups, tidy up access rights and write down what needs attention first.
- We agree the scope and response time. What we do on an ongoing basis, how quickly we respond to failures and requests, how many changes fit into the monthly scope.
- We maintain at a steady rhythm. Updates, backups and security reviews happen on schedule, without you having to chase them.
- We develop and report. You submit changes to one person, and every month you receive a summary: what was done, what needs a decision, what we propose.
What do you get?
- a site that is up to date, secured and monitored,
- backups from which the site can actually be restored,
- one contact person and an agreed response time,
- a monthly summary of work and the state of the site.
When is it worth outsourcing maintenance?
- when nobody has looked after the site since launch,
- when updates are postponed because "something might break",
- when changes to the site wait weeks for a contractor,
- when the company does not know whether it has a working backup.
Frequently asked questions
Can you take over a site built by someone else?
Yes. We start with a review of its technical condition and security, and then maintain and develop it. There is no need to rebuild, unless the review shows that it would not pay off.
How is maintenance billed?
A fixed monthly fee for maintenance and security, and development as a fixed scope or hourly, whichever suits the company better.
Who is responsible for security?
Site security is overseen by a certified security auditor. Reviews, patches and incident response are part of maintenance.
