Communication process reporting: what was done, how long it took and what to improve
A communication process report answers the questions the board asks marketing, and which marketing can rarely answer with numbers: how many materials were produced, how long their journey took, where work stalled and what it all cost. One page, every month, in a fixed layout.
What does the report contain?
The board does not ask how many posts were produced. It asks whether communication runs smoothly and what it costs. The report answers the second question.
A process report differs from a results report. A results report says how the content performed externally. A process report says how efficiently it was produced. It covers:
- what was done: the number and types of materials, campaigns, publications,
- how long it took: the average time from request to publication, split into work and waiting,
- where work stalled: which steps and which people were the bottleneck,
- what was late and why,
- cost: the team's time and external contractors' costs,
- proposals: what to change next month, with the expected effect.
How is the report produced?
- The data collects itself. If the process runs in a tool, the report is built from its data. We do not ask the team to fill in tables.
- We compare with previous months. The fixed layout shows whether lead time is getting shorter or longer, and what has changed.
- We write the conclusions. Every number that stands out gets an explanation and a proposal. Briefly, without ten-page tables.
- We discuss it in fifteen minutes. You receive the report in writing and, if you wish, we discuss it in a short call and agree the changes for the next month.
What do you get?
- a one-page communication process report every month,
- the numbers that matter to the board: time, cost, bottlenecks,
- proposed changes with the expected effect,
- a view of trends from month to month.
When is the report especially needed?
- when the board asks what marketing does and wants an answer in numbers,
- when the company has made changes to the process and wants to know whether they work,
- when cooperation with contractors will last for months and a regular checkpoint is needed,
- when communication costs are rising and nobody knows on what.
Frequently asked questions
Does the report require work from our team?
No, if the process runs in a tool. We collect the data from it automatically. The only work on your side is fifteen minutes to discuss it, if you wish.
Does the report also cover publication results?
The process report focuses on efficiency. Publication results, reach and enquiries are reported separately, as part of social media management or campaigns. Both reports can be combined into one view.
Can we get the data in our own format?
Yes. If the company has its own reporting system, we deliver the data in a layout that fits it, alongside our report.
